Anonymous: Hi - in a previous post you mentioned that the probability of the site closing is high. Could you please expand on this and let us know why you think that this is the case ? It would be such a shame... Thanks. Benoit

Hi! Why do you think that there are all these debates between the climbing federation and the ministry? The climbers fight to keep these rocks open for climbing. … In the new rules, the Ministry of Environment have highlighted that they have the power to close the area “… for the reasons of the protection and conservation of nature.” (… pour des raisons de protection et de conservation de la nature). The site of “Wanterbaach” in Berdorf is part of the “Natura2000” project because very rare species of plants are growing there. During the good weather weekends and all the holidays, this place is very often overcrowded and unfortunately, a lot of the climbers have no respect for this protected area and leave too much dirt behind them (from cigarette stubs to crappy toiletpaper, we even found once shitty pampers from someone’s baby at the foot of a route!).
So now for example, the climbing federation FLERA (flera.lu) together with the local climbers have organized a CLEAN UP DAY, Saturday, 11th June 2016. If you do not want to see this area closed for climbing, you are all invited to participate. 😀
